BPC Action is currently seeking a manager or director to support and manage technology and fiscal policy advocacy. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who will work with BPC’s policy projects to advocate on technology and fiscal policies and set our legislative strategy. The candidate will have experience in technology public policy, a strong understanding of the legislative process, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Work on all aspects of federal congressional technology advocacy – including setting strategic vision, establishing annual goals and deliverables, and closely collaborating with BPC Technology Project on advocacy agenda.
• Partner with BPC Action colleagues to advance fiscal policy legislative goals and provide guidance to BPC’s Economic Policy Project.
• Oversee congressional outreach and represent BPC Action on behalf of BPC’s Technology Project at regular meetings with congressional members and staff
• Steer the tracking and analysis of federal legislative developments in technology advocacy
• Work with Executive Director and BPC Technology Project to conceptualize, develop, and produce written products, public events, and other activities to advance technology goals
• Provide political guidance and strategic advice to BPC policy and communications staff on written materials and public events to optimize legislative opportunities
• Provide advice to BPC’s Development team on funding opportunities and assist in the preparation for meetings, events, and materials as needed
• Forge productive working relationships with peer organizations and generate opportunities for collaboration
• Strong understanding of technology policy, the federal budget and general legislative
• Strong political skills and ability to work diplomatically with a wide spectrum of viewpoints
• Ability to manage large projects and multi-task
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Capable of working independently and in a team environment
• Ability to develop and maintain working relationships
• Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s or Law degree a plus
• At least 5-10 years of experience working on Capitol Hill or government relations
